Fans of the historical fiction novel Rare Objects can rejoice as the book is being adapted into a movie with Katie Holmes both directing and starring in the project. This will be Holmes’ third time directing, and she has expressed her enthusiasm for bringing American Author Kathleen Tessaro’s story to life on the big screen.
To bring authenticity to the movie’s production design, award-winning set decorator Beth Kushnick reached out to Newel Props to help source antiques for the film. Kushnick remarked “It was an honor to work with Newel Props and have such a vast array of antiques to create an authentic look for the film. We layered the sets with Newel Props pieces in every category. Different scale, periods, materials and styles gave us the perfect collection to genuinely portray what are ‘Rare Objects'”.
The partnership between Newel Props and Rare Objects is a perfect fit, as the story takes place in an antiques shop, and our vast collection of antique pieces provides an accurate representation of such a place. By carefully selecting and incorporating our antique collection into the Rare Objects set, Kushnick was able to bring the film’s setting to life and create a sense of realism that enhances the story’s impact.
Newel Props is extremely excited about this partnership as our involvement in the movie provides an exciting opportunity for audiences to witness our collection of rare and unique pieces in action on the big screen. Check out some Newel Props items featured in the film below.
