Back Stage at Newel Props with Gabriella Baer, Creative Director

March 10, 2020

Most people know me as Sugar’s mom or Jake’s little sister/ Lewis’s daughter, but few people know that I am also the Creative Director here at Newel Props. As the Creative Director, it is my job to produce innovative ideas for our company branding, advertising and marketing campaigns, and social media strategy.

I began working at Newel Props after graduating college from Lehigh University in 2015. I’ll admit, the first few months working for the family business were confusing as I struggled to find my niche. I eventually found my path when I decided to create the Newel Props Instagram page and realized my passion for social media and marketing. My job has since expanded to producing our weekly email marketing campaigns, blog posts, and monthly content calendars and metrics reporting for our social media.

I can proudly say that I wake up every morning excited to come to work. Newel Props is a visionary company where everyone genuinely supports each other and shares the same dedication to helping the customer. I am fortunate to work with my dad and brother in the family business, but bringing my best friend Sugar Baer along every day is the icing on the cake!

Q.

What might the design world look like in 15 years?

A.

I hope more millennials will start to appreciate the value and beauty of antiques, and the days of “fast furniture” are replaced with “forever furniture”.

Q.

If you could switch lives with someone for a day, who would it be?

A.

My dog! I would love to see (or smell) a day in the life of Sugar.

Q.

Best gift you’ve ever received?

A.

The Nest indoor camera. As an overprotective dog mom, I feel at ease being able to watch my pup when I am not home. Thanks, Jake!

Q.

Best way to relax/decompress?

A.

Go for a run or do yoga.

Q.

Describe your childhood bedroom?

A.

Fun fabrics & lots of color. I’m talking about a zebra print carpet with turquoise/ coral painted walls. Aside from the striking design, the most memorable part of my childhood bedroom was my gorgeous antique brass bed. I went to bed every night feeling like a true princess.

Q.

Biggest pet peeve?

A.

Slow walkers & bad table manners.

Q.

What’s one thing that is always in your refrigerator?

A.

Ground beef & Sprite Zero. The beef is for Sugar because I cook her dinner every night and the Sprite Zero is for my soda addiction.

Q.

What’s your favorite time of day?

A.

I am definitely a night owl by nature, but I am *trying* to become more of a morning bird.
