Amy Silver is a member of Set Decorators of America. She has worked on feature films such as Ang Lee’s The Wedding Banquet, Harmony Korine’s Gummo, Cindy Sherman’s Office Killer, Spike Lee’s Da Brick, and Sofia Coppola’s The Beguiled and On The Rocks. As a production designer, Silver has worked with Louis CK on the television shows Louie, and Horace and Pete. She graduated from Boston University and currently lives in New York City.

Who is your contemporary inspiration in your field?
A.
I am always so blown away by everything Ellen Christiansen does. Her work is just so perfect.

What is your most memorable career moment so far?
A.
Working in Nashville on the movie Gummo felt like living someone else’s life for three months. It was all really strange. Also, going to Beijing in Season 4 of Louis was really fun.

What modern design trend makes you cringe?
A.
All of them – if someone tells me something is trending, I cross it off my list. But if pressed, I would have to say brass fixtures in the kitchen.

Describe your childhood bedroom.
A.
I begged my mom for this wallpaper I saw that was inspired by Alphonse Mucha illustrations of women in cigarette ads with a pink and purple color way that I considered to be very chic. She agreed but when I look back at photos – it all kind of looks like a brothel.
