Newel Props Joins the Fight to Keep Film and TV Production in America

October 13, 2025

Jake Baer of Newel Props is proud to serve as a board member of the Coalition for American Production (CAP), an organization dedicated to protecting and strengthening the future of the U.S. film and television industry.

This fall, CAP is hosting a powerful four-day advocacy trip to Washington, D.C. from November 5–7, 2025, bringing together creators, producers, studio heads, and industry professionals to meet directly with members of Congress. The mission is simple but urgent: to ensure that the American film industry continues to thrive—right here at home.

Why This Matters

For decades, American productions have supported millions of jobs across every corner of the country. From prop houses and set decorators to costume designers, carpenters, caterers, and countless small businesses, our industry fuels a creative ecosystem unlike any other. But as global tax incentives draw productions overseas, we risk losing more than just jobs—we risk losing our cultural voice.

The Coalition for American Production is working to change that. CAP is leading the push for a national production incentive, a policy that keeps American storytelling, jobs, and creativity where they belong: in the United States.

“Launching CAP’s DC initiative is a critical step toward strengthening American production from the ground up. The creative economy depends on us staying competitive, and the time to act is now.”

Join Us in Washington

From November 5–7, industry professionals will gather in D.C. for CAP in DC, a grassroots lobbying event designed to bring our voices directly to policymakers. Participants will spend time on Capitol Hill, meet with senators and representatives, and help shape the conversation around the future of American film and television.

As a proud board member of CAP, Newel Props is deeply committed to supporting this initiative and encourages everyone in the production community to get involved. The more voices we have, the stronger our message becomes.

Visit usacap.org to learn more, join CAP, or register for the trip to Washington. Together, we can protect the future of our industry and ensure that American production remains a force of creativity, craftsmanship, and culture for generations to come.
